The Audi A3 Cabriolet has been awarded with the “Drop-top of the Year” title in Scotland. This news comes shortly after the TT won the Coupe of the Year award from Top Gear so the end of the year is turning to be great for Audi. The SCOTY awards are handled by the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers (ASMW) and the open-air A3 received the award during a special ceremony organized in St Andrews.
ASMW members are responsible for testing dozens of cars each year and they selected the Audi A3 Cabriolet as the open-top car year thanks to its “fabulous looks and a fun drive”, according to Alisdair Suttie, president of the association. He went on to specify the car benefits from a “rock solid quality and a superb range of efficient engines.”
Speaking of engines, the Audi A3 Cabriolet can be had with a wide variety of motors, starting out with a 1.4 TFSI equipped with cylinder on demand technology. There’s also a larger 1.8 TFSI which can be had with optionally quattro AWD system, as well as more frugal 1.6 and 2.0 TDI engines. Sitting on top of the range is the S3 Cabriolet packing a four-cylinder 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine rated at 300 HP (221 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque.
Available in SE, Sport and S line trims, the Audi A3 Cabriolet carries a starting price of £26,085 while the S3 costs £39,205.
