Independent artist X-Tomi Design has digitally imagined a hypothetical revival of the Audi A2. The first generation of the model failed to be a success mainly because of the very high price tag commanded by the all-aluminum body. In these past few years, a few rumors have emerged about the possibility of bringing back the A2 but none of them have actually materialized into a production cars.
Audi did show an A2 EV Concept back in September 2011 while about a year ago we heard they are cooking up an A2Q model is in the works and will be out sometime in 2018. The model in question is believed to be based on Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform and adopt a fully electric powertrain featuring a lithium-ion battery pack that will have enough juice to allow the model have a maximum range of 500 km (310 miles) on a single charge.
Before the end of the decade there might be a new Audi A2 as the Ingolstadt-based automaker has disclosed plans to boost its lineup from the current 50 models to 60 cars by 2020 and the A2 could be one of the new entries to further boost Audi’s presence on the EV market.
