Audi CEO Rupert Stadler recently declared the company isn’t planning a smaller and more affordable model positioned below the A1.
Several months ago some reports emerged about the possibility of Audi getting a rebadged version of the Volkswagen up! which would receive the Audi A0 moniker. However, Rupert Stadler says a new entry-level model is not being considered because the current base model, the A1, provides Audi with solid profit margins and it’s selling quite well.
If there will ever be a sub-A1 model, chances are it will be powered by the 100 bhp 1.0-liter TSI engine taken from the Volkswagen up! GT. Needless to say, a hypothetical A0 would be considerably more expensive than the up! and its two cousins, the Skoda Citigo and Seat Mii.
