We’re already big fans of the Audi S5 Coupe, as you may have already read. It’s our favorite coupe in the segment, beating out the 4 Series (comparison coming soon!) and Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe already. Its exhaust is actually one of the things we like about it, which surprised us considering that the S5’s engine is now turbocharged, rather than the old car’s supercharged V6, which muffles the sound a bit. However, if you want to unmuffle that sound and make your S5 sound positively insane, maybe take a look at Armytrix.
Armytrix is one of the crazier tuning companies on the market and they build some pretty wild cars. Their exhausts are especially loud and angry. So if that’s the type of thing you’re into, then check out this video of an Audi S5 Coupe with an Armytrix Valvetronic exhaust system. It sounds mean.
Operated with a smartphone app, you can open or close the valves on the exhaust, making it louder or quieter, respectively. So if you’re starting your car in the morning and you like your neighbors and don’t want to wake them, you can keep the valves closed, start your car and go on with your day. But if your neighbor still hasn’t returned your lawnmower and they’re being a real ass about it, then open the exhaust and give them a nice morning wake up call. Because it’s flipping loud.
What’s nice, though, is that it doesn’t sounds too boomy or bassy, like many aftermarket exhausts can make turbocharged engines sound. In fact, at high revs, it screams with a metallic, mechanical rasp that we really like. It also has these nice little burps on upshifts and it crackles and bangs on throttle lift, making for all of the drama that enthusiasts love.
We love the Audi S5 and really like the way it sounds. However, we know that it isn’t the loudest or most exciting sounding car on the road. So if you want an upgrade, Armytrix might be the way to go for you.
