Animated Audi RSQ e-tron featured in Spies in Disguise, starring Will Smith

The upcoming animated movie, “Spies in Disguise“, is about to release on December 25 and it features two megastars; Will Smith and Tom Holland. But it will also feature another star, this one not so well known, though — the Audi RSQ e-tron.

Doesn’t sound familiar, does it? That’s because it’s not a real car. It’s been designed by Audi specifically for this animated movie. So animated it will stay.

In this new movie, Smith plays the lead, as the suave spy Lance Sterling, and Holland plays a scientist, Walter Beckett. This new clip released by Audi shows both of them in the middle of an action packed car chase in the Audi RSQ e-tron. Despite having “Q” in the name, the RSQ e-tron is not an SUV. Instead, it’s more of an all-electric exotic supercar (even if there are some engine noises added in).

“The action-packed super-spy storyline provides us with a creative medium to showcase innovation and technology, and all that is possible with the future of mobility,” says Sven Schuwirth, Vice President Brand Audi, Digital Business and Customer Experience.

In this clip, we get to see some of the funny, action-packed scenes featuring the new Audi RSQ e-tron. Although, some of the product placement is a bit too on the nose, so we’re hoping this is just a promotional clip and not in the final movie. For instance, Smith’s Sterling engages “Audi AI” autonomous autopilot. While that’s kind of cool for Audi fans, it’s a bit too obvious of a product placement in a movie. Though, this is likely just a standalone promo clip.

Spies in Disguise comes out at the end of this month, making it the second movie Audi made a huge product placement in this year. The first was obviously Avengers: Endgame, which has been seen by about every human on Earth. Ironically, both movies feature Tom Holland.
