The highly anticipated Audi RS4 Avant is being unofficially previewed through a couple of renders from Theophilus Chin. The power wars are far from being over and Audi certainly wants to go head to head with Mercedes-AMG C63 Estate, so they need to make the new RS4 Avant more powerful. Case in point, the latest gossip from Ingolstadt points to a 500 hp output which would make it 50 hp more powerful than the old RS4 Avant that went out of production recently.
When will the new car come? We don’t know for sure at this point, but Quattro GmbH boss Heinz Hollerweger said it will be launched “relatively early” so chances are it will be introduced sometime in 2016. That 500 hp punch we mentioned won’t come from an upgraded version of the V8 4.2-liter normally aspirated engine as that one will be remove to make room for what is believed to be a V6 3.0-liter turbocharged motor which aside from being more powerful it will also cut down fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
With more power wrapped around in a package that should be about 100 kg lighter, we won’t be surprised if the new Audi RS4 Avant will complete the 0-100 km/h task in less than four and a half seconds taking into account its predecessor does the job in 4.7 seconds.
