ABT-tuned Audi S5 Sportback adds needed aggression

If there was ever a complaint about the new Audi S5 Sportback, it’s the it’s a bit too tame. It’s a great overall car, with good looks, a superb cabin, great performance and surprising practicality. However, it’s a bit soft and not as exciting as we hoped. Though, we’re just happy to have it here in the ‘States at all, so we’re not complaining. Anyway, it seems that the folks at ABT Sportsline aren’t satisfied with how tame the S5 Sportback is. So they cranked things up to eleven.

Admittedly, this ABT tuning package isn’t exclusive to the S5 Sportback, as the Coupe and Cabriolet can get it as well. Though, the Sportback is the car we’re going to focus on because it’s the best S5 variant.

On the outside, the ABT-tuned Audi S5 Sportback gets a new lower front and rear lip, visually making the car lower and more aggressive. It looks really good with the aero kit and isn’t too much. It adds just enough added anger to the S5 Sportback, which is a bit reserved looking.

There are several wheel options but the ones seen here are the ABT Sport GR20 wheels in Glossy Black. They look really good, actually, and look a bit better than the standard wheels that come on the S5. As we’ve seen with the H&R-tuned RS3 at SEMA, Audi should offer R8 wheels on every ‘S’ or ‘RS’ car because they look great.

Under the hood, there’s an engine tune to the 3.0 liter turbocharged V6 engine that makes it develop¬†425PS (419hp) and 550Nm (406lb-ft) of torque. Those are close to Audi RS5 numbers, which is impressive. That comes with a new ABT-tuned muffler, that increases the sound quite a bit, something that 3.0 liter V6 sorely needed. Combine that with the added looks and this ABT Sportsline Audi S5 Sportback is one mean looking car.
