If there’s any real complaint about the Audi SQ5, it’s that it’s a bit too…dull. As dull as a 354 hp SUV can be, I guess. Despite being fast and very capable, the SQ5 never really inspires you to drive it quickly. It’s a great overall package, it could just use some added excitement and aggression. If you own an Audi SQ5 and feel this way, the all-new ABT Sportsline upgrades are ones you should definitely look into.
ABT Sportsline has always made some of the wildest, most interesting Audi tunes. This new Styling and Performance package certainly fits that bill.
The basic version of the package just includes an aero kit, which consists of a new front lip, side skirts and a subtle rear diffuser. If you opt for the wide-body kit, you also get aggressive new bumpers and fender extensions. Though, the latter bit might be a bit much. But if you’re looking for aggression, the wide-body kit will certainly do the trick.
There are also a selection of 20″, 21″ or 22″ wheels to go along with the more aggressive body work. All of which look great and come in a variety of different finishes, so the choice is really up to style and ride comfort.
Don’t think that this tuning kit is all bark and no bite, though. That’s not ABT Sportsline’s style. If you want, there’s a power kit to go along with the extra body work. And it’s no slouch of a power kit, either. The standard Audi SQ5 uses a 3.0 liter turbocharged V6 that makes 354 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. However, after some ABT Sportsline fettling, the SQ5 makes a healthy 425 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque. ABT hasn’t quoted a 0-60 mph time but expect it to be a lot quicker tan the stock car’s 5.1 seconds.
We like the Audi SQ5, it’s a good car. It’s just not a highly desirable car, it doesn’t speak to many enthusiasts. But after some slight modifying from ABT Sportsline, it could be a very exciting, very desirable everyday driving performance SUVs.
