ABT Sportsline already creates Audi S5 tune

ABT Sportsline has been one of the leading Audi tuners for years now, developing tuning packages for some of Audi’s highest performing sports cars. Apparently, the German company does so quickly as well, as ABT has already developed a tuning package for the brand-spanking new Audi S5.

In standard spec, the Audi S5 Coupe develops 354 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque from its turbocharged 3.0 liter V6 engine. That engine is mated with an eight-speed ZF-sourced automatic gearbox, instead of the seven-speed dual-clutch S-Tronic gearbox in the standard A5 Coupe. It powers all four wheels, via Quattro all-wheel drive, and can get from 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds. That’s properly quick and fast enough to be fun. But ABT isn’t satisfied with such results.

So the German tuner is offering a package for the Audi S5 that’s comprised of just an ECU tune and a freer flowing exhaust. Those upgrades bring an additional 71 hp and 36 lb-ft of torque, which is seriously substantial. For you mathletes out there, that gives the ABT-tuned Audi S5 425 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque, which is quite a lot. Coincidentally, that’s almost exactly the same power output of the Audi RS5’s rival BMW M4. So with this tune, Audi S5 buyers will be jumping up to a new performance bracket.

According to ABT, this tune still hasn’t’ overstressed the engine and there’s room to upgrade still without damaging the engine. However, there’s little need for any more power than this, as with the eight-speed auto and Quattro all-wheel drive, this ABT-tuned Audi S5 will be monstrously fast.
