The standard Audi RS3 is a little pocket-rocket on its own. With its 2.5 liter turbocharged I5 engine, snappy dual-clutch gearbox, grippy all-wheel drive system and tiny size, it’s a proper little road missile. It’s also one of the most fun small cars on the market to drive. However, the folks at ABT Sportsline have decided to turn things up a notch or ten.
Seen here, the ABT Audi RS3 now makes a whopping 500 hp, which is up from the standard 400 hp of the regular RS3. That’s quite a big bump in power, especially for such a small car. To make that much power, ABT gives it a new intercooler, stainless steel exhaust and an ECU tune. On top of the added power, it also gets 420 lb-ft of torque, which is up from 354 lb-ft of the standard car.
ABT apparently claims a 0-60 mph time of 3.7 seconds but there’s no way it isn’t faster than that. Audi claims 4.1 seconds to 60 mph for the RS3 and it actually ends up doing close to 3.7 on its own. With an extra 100 hp and 66 lb-ft of torque, it should be able to nail that speed in the low three-second range. Which is mightily impressive for a little RS3. That would make it faster than the new Audi RS5 and it could even be faster than the Audi R8 V10 (not Plus).
There’s never been any doubt that the Audi RS3 was a beast of a machine, a miniature missile in a finely tailored suit. However, this ABT Audi RS3 is an entirely different animal. It’s angrier looking, thanks to a new front lip, little fender vents and a new rear diffuser, and a helluva lot more powerful. If you’re looking to turn your standard Audi RS3 into a genuine monster, take it to the people at ABT.
