2021 Audi Q5 Animation Video Emphasizes The Design Changes

If you’ve been looking forward to seeing the 2021 Audi Q5 in a color other than District Green, you’re in for a disappointment. That’s because the new animation released this week shows the very same facelifted crossover in the 40 TDI specification with the green shade and S Line exterior package. Naturally, the version featured on video is fitted with all the bells and whistles, including matrix LED headlights and the fancy OLED taillights introduced with the mid-cycle revision.

While the aforementioned District Green is of interest to some people since it’s a new color introduced with the facelift, we also want to see how the 2021 Q5 looks in Ultra Blue. It’s the other fresh shade that debuted with the revised midsize luxury crossover. Interestingly, those redesigned sill inserts are more than just for show as they actually serve a functional purpose by increasing the vehicle’s ground clearance a little bit.

You might be tempted to believe those redesigned exhaust tips are now functional, but as the saying goes, looks can be deceiving. They’re still completely fake, although we’ll give credit to Audi for the better execution compared to what the pre-facelift model had. As you may recall, even the SQ5 had those ghastly faux tips, although spy shots have revealed the facelifted variant will adopt a proper quad setup. Unless those were fake as well…

2021 Audi SQ5 Facelift is Nearly Half a Second Faster Than Before Due to Gearing

With Audi recently launching in Europe a gasoline V8 for the SQ7 and SQ8 to replace the diesel, we can’t help but wonder whether it will be the same story for the smaller SQ5 by adopting gasoline power. As a matter of fact, there are rumors the upcoming Q5 Sportback will spawn a TFSI-powered SQ5 derivative with a V6 inherited from the North American SQ5.

Meanwhile, the regular Q5 will go on sale in Europe this fall once production will get going at the San José Chiapa plant in Mexico.
