Audi S8 Video Covers Everything From The Built-In Fridge To Acceleration

Audi’s super sedan has landed in the United Arab Emirates where this stunning white example of the S8 was subjected to a thorough review by YouTuber Mr Mawater. Make sure you hit the CC button to get the English subtitles to understand what he’s saying, but you won’t be needing the translation to see some of the car’s party tricks. From the clever air suspension to the high-tech interior, this S8 video covers all the bases.

About that suspension. We’re being reminded of how the standard predictive air suspension works by adjusting itself to ensure a silky-smooth ride even when the S8 has to go over a bump in the road. It automatically raises the body for greater suspension travel to better absorb the impact. The trick suspension also jacks up the car by up to 50 mm (2 inches) when the sensor built into the door handle senses the driver’s hand, thus making it easier to get inside.

As the adjacent S8 video is showing, another ace up its sleeve is the ability to automatically raise the body by 80 millimeters (3.1 inches) in case of an imminent side impact. Doing so means more impact energy will be absorbed by the sills, therefore reducing the risks of serious injuries for the driver and passenger.

Interestingly, this particular car has a fire extinguisher underneath the front passenger seat in case something goes horribly wrong. In the back, between the seats, folding down the massive central armrest provides access to the fridge, because you obviously can’t have a 571-horsepower luxury sedan without a tiny fridge, right?

The S8 video goes through all the ins and outs of the speedy sedan, including its engine cover compared to Batman’s suit and the impressively beefy hinges of the split central armrest in the front.

If you stick around until around the 11:30 mark, you’ll see the car do 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.86 seconds and 0-124 mph (0-200 km/h) 12.86 seconds. That’s not too shabby for something that weighs about as much as the moon.
