2020 Audi S8 Looks Like A Business Athlete In Stunning New Video

The glory days of the sedan may be long gone, but there’s something special about a fast and luxurious four-door car an SUV simply can’t match. While Audi only has one RS-badged sedan in its portfolio, the RS3, it does sell a great number of S cars, topped off by this – the mighty S8. The continuous rise of crossovers has reduced the big and fast sedan to somewhat of a niche market, but that doesn’t make the S8 any less impressive.

A new video shot by Auditography in Warsaw, Poland shows the king among sedans in the company’s lineup sitting on 21-inch wheels while wearing an elegant Kirsch Black pearl effect paint from the Audi Exclusive catalog. While some of the company’s recent S models have received faux quad exhaust tips in Europe, what you see is what you get on the S8 as those quad finishers are linked to the car’s actual exhaust.

In typical German luxury brand fashion, the S8 is quicker to 62 mph (100 km/h) than Audi claims. The official specs sheet may say the high-performance sedan completes the sprint in 3.8 seconds, but it’s actually nearly half a second quicker in real life. Auditography discovered the sedan’s agility first-hand, with the onboard Vbox showing an impressive time of only 3.33 seconds. Not too shabby for a car that weighs a monstrous 2,305 kilograms (5,082 pounds) with a driver, right?

The video is also a good opportunity to check out some of the S8’s other party tricks, including the four-wheel steering to reduce the turning radius and the air suspension that comes as standard. The way it hunkers down before launch control kicks in remains quite cool to see even though plenty of other performance cars have this feature.

Seeing as how the rise of SUVs has taken its toll on sedans, we wouldn’t hold our breath for an RS8. Maybe Audi will launch an S8 Performance once again, and even if it won’t, the regular S8 already has supercar chops in a four-seat luxury wrapper.
