2020 Audi S8 Filmed At Dealer Showing Gorgeous Engine Bay

Due to the rise of crossovers and SUVs, sedans have fallen out of favor in recent years. Audi Sport has taken notice of the new trend by channeling more of its efforts towards the launch of additional S and RS versions from its ever-growing “Q” lineup. That’s not to say Ingolstadt’s go-faster division has put sedans on the back burner because it’s still offering everything from the small S3 to the big daddy – the S8.

Featured here in Daytona Grey is claimed to be the first new-generation Audi S8 to arrive in Sweden, specifically at a dealer in Stockholm. It’s got the optional 21-inch alloy wheels with the 10-spoke design that we’d argue are a perfect match for the sedan’s sharp lines. The video shot by splice77 / YouTube is also a good opportunity to take a good look underneath the imposing hood where the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 calls home.

Being an Audi S8 built for the European market, some might be worried the super sedan has fake exhaust tips as seen on the recent crop of S-badged diesel models. That’s not the case here as those quad tips are actually connected to the real exhaust as seen on all S cars sold by Audi outside of Euro land where they have gasoline engines.

You can easily tell this isn’t a base-spec S8 as aside from the optional paint and wheels, this one also has the laser LED headlights and OLED taillights, which are pricey extras. We’re bringing this up because these high-end cars are in most cases configured with lots of additional goodies, so it’s no wonder the Audi dealer in Stockholm was quite generous when the time came to tick the options boxes.

With crossovers and SUVs of all shapes and sizes invading the streets, seeing a large sedan has become somewhat of an occasion, especially a high-performance version. The new S8 will likely be a rarity in many parts of the world given current customer preferences, but we’re glad Audi still offers an answer to the likes of Mercedes-AMG S63 and Alpina B7.
