2020 Audi RS6 Avant Gets Nearly 1,000 Horsepower From Tuner

Tuners are beginning to take notice of Audi’s supercar among wagons as more and more modified RS6 Avant versions are surfacing. After seeing ABT’s epic creation with 730 horsepower, Wheelsandmore have decided to introduce their five-stage upgrade program for Ingolstadt’s Mercedes-AMG E63 Estate competitor.

We’ll cut to the chase and skip to the stage 5 kit, which takes the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine to a whopping 996 horsepower to eclipse even the original Bugatti Veyron. Do you need an additional 405 hp over the already potent standard RS6 Avant? Of course you don’t, but it doesn’t hurt having roughly the extra horsepower equivalent of Audi’s glorious inline-five 2.5-liter engine.

Torque is bumped to a massive 1,250 Newton-meters (922 pound-feet), but getting this kind of power from your RS6 Avant is obviously going to cost you. Wheelsandmore is asking nearly €42,000, which works out to about $45,000 at current exchange rates. That’s certainly steep, but a stock RS6 isn’t exactly affordable either considering it kicks off at €117,500 in homeland Germany and from $109,000 in the United States.

The additional muscle is extracted from the V8 by making changes to the pair of turbochargers, upgrading the exhaust system, and installing a beefier air filter kit. The tuner will happily throw in other tweaks, varying from a suspension lowering kit to a shiny new set of 22-inch alloys. Head on over to the company’s website at this link to read about all five stages of the tuning program for those who feel the stock RS6 Avant is somehow underpowered.

Alternatively, you could patiently wait for Audi to come out with its own beefier RS6 Avant as the Four Rings have already suggested a hybrid variant could arrive further down the line. Audi Sport’s Managing Director Oliver Hoffman dropped a not-so-subtle hint about electrifying the RS6 (and the RS7 as well) when the super wagon was introduced last fall at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Expect a hotter RS6 to adopt a plug-in hybrid powertrain to follow Porsche with its insanely powerful Turbo S E-Hybrid models offering a glorious 680 electrified ponies.
