2020 Audi A3 Sportback Looks Sophisticated In Mythos Black

The new Audi A3 Sportback is available at more and more dealers across Europe in all sorts of specifications, and this one caught our attention. Finished in an elegant Mythos Black paint, the posh hatch was filmed by swsthebest1994 at Autoland Van den Brug Drachten in The Netherlands sitting on swanky 19-inch wheels with a Y-spoke design.

The A3 Sportback looks classy and a step in the right direction compared to its predecessor. The dark paint makes the weak points of the design – the fake vents and exhaust tips – less visible. We’re dealing with an S Line model in the 35 TFSI specification with a sticker price of €47,309. It has the standard six-speed manual gearbox rather than the seven-speed S Tronic, which is the sole transmission for the 1.5 TFSI engine when it’s equipped with mild-hybrid tech.

Being an S Line variant, it has some nifty upgrades inside the cabin where you’ll notice the flat-bottomed steering wheel and the sporty front seats with better lateral support and integrated headrests. As with all the other A3 Sportback models, this Mythos Black example has the latest Audi Virtual Cockpit and the MIB3 infotainment system offering a smooth operation akin to high-end smartphones.

Expected given the premium it demands over the mechanically related models, the Audi A3 Sportback appears more upscale than the VW Golf, SEAT Leon, and Skoda Octavia. It ticks all the right boxes for a family-oriented hatchback and the generation switch has managed to improve upon an already successful recipe.

Enthusiasts in need of more oomph are waiting for the S3, which will probably be out in a few months. It will effectively double the horsepower count compared to this 35 TFSI Mythos Black model while adding Quattro and S Tronic as standard. Of course, the RS3 will take things even further by offering somewhere in the region of 400 hp from the latest inline-five turbo engine.
