2019 LA Auto Show: First-Ever Audi RS Q8 — Breaker of Records

The all-new Audi RS Q8 has officially made its debut at the 2019 LA Auto Show and it’s not only the first-ever RS Q8 but it’s the first-ever RS SUV to be sold in America. So it’s an important car for Audi and one that’s actually surprisingly impressive.

Typically, big, performance SUVs are just fast in a straight-line but fall apart in the corners. While we obviously haven’t driven the new RS Q8, we’re actually expecting it to not fall apart in the corners because it’s just broken the all-time lap record at the Nurburgring for SUVs. To be fast at the ‘Ring, a car needs to handle and carry a lot of speed through corners. So, while it might not be the purist of driving machines, it can seriously handle and it’s shockingly capable.

Under its hood is the 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8 from the Audi RS6 and RS7, so it makes 591 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. So it’s still very powerful and fast in a straight line as well. But, honestly, the impressive part is how well it handles.

It also looks great. The Audi Q8 is already a great looking car but the Audi RS Q8 is probably the best looking fast SUV on the market. It’s so punchy and aggressive looking. Its ride height is low, its wheels are massive, it has carbon fiber everywhere and it just looks so angry. In person, it has a ton of presence, so customers will enjoy parking their car and showing it off.

Inside, it’s similar to the standard car but with a lot more Alcantara, carbon fiber and, in this case, green stitching. One of the cooler new additions, though, is the new RS Mode screen in the Virtual Cockpit that looks really good. We’re very excited about the RS Q8 and we can’t wait to actually get it on the road.
