Ever since we first saw the second-gen Audi Q3, we were eager to get our hands on it in the ‘States. That’s because the Audi Q3 is an important car for the brand, offering a small, entry-level crossover to a broad spectrum of customers. Its affordable price and compact size makes the Q3 a very customer-friendly car. Yet, the first-gen Q3 was a bit miss by Audi, so we’re hoping this second-gen car it more of a hit.
The online configurator for the 2019 Audi Q3 has finally gone live on the Audi USA website, so we can build and price our own car. After seeing the as-standard features across the trim levels and the prices, we have to say that it seems like the new Q3 is headed in the right direction.
Starting price for the Audi Q3 is $34,700 before destination. For that, you get a 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, with 228 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. You also get an eight-speed automatic gearbox and Quattro all-wheel drive as-standard. On top of that, it comes with a 10.25-inch driver’s display, an 8.8-inch touchscreen MMI system, LED headlights, a panoramic sunroof and 18-inch wheels. That’s a lot of standard kit for less than $35-grand.
Inside, leather seats are standard, with three different no-cost color options; black, beige and brown. It’s not the most lavish looking interior but it’s not exactly a Turkish prison, now is it? With the large-ish touchscreen, digital driver’s display and heated leather seats, at that price, the Audi Q3 is one helluva premium crossover bargain.
Now all we need to do is drive it to find out if it’s actually worth buying. It has all the right ingredients to be a great everyday premium crossover, one you don’t mind shuttling the kids to school in while leaving the sports car in the garage. And at that price, you won’t feel guilty about buying it and the sports car.
