2019 Audi A6 to start at $58,900 in U.S.

One of the more exciting models set to debut for the four-ringed brand this year is the all-new 2019 Audi A6. Being smaller, lighter and sportier than the A8, while still packing almost all of the A8’s luxury and technology, the A6 seems like a sweet spot in the lineup. Plus, it looks damn good and, as we’re now learning, it will be affordable.

Starting at $58,900 for Premium trim, the Audi A6 comes with an impressive amount of standard features. It gets a 3.0 liter turbocharged V6 as-standard (the same one from the Audi S5), which makes 335 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. That engine is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and Quattro all-wheel drive as-standard. No front-wheel drive model for the new A6. That helps it scoot from 0-60 mph in 5.1 seconds.

It also gets a dual-touchscreen MMI setup as standard. The 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system is standard but the Premium Plus ($62,700) and Prestige ($67,100) trim levels ge a 10.1-inch screen. Below that, an 8.1-inch screen houses all of the HVAC controls. We’ve used this new system before and it’s impressively intuitive, although we do have our worries about how it will work on the road.

Other standard equipment on Premium models include LED headlights and daytime running lights, sunroof, three-zone climate control, real leather seating, eight-way power front seats with memory and interior LED ambient lighting. So even Premium trim models are very well equipped, probably far more so than anyone actually needs.

There’s no exact word when the new Audi A6 will go on sale but expect it by the end of this year. It should immediately become one of Audi’s best selling cars, thanks to its much-improved looks, fantastic new interior, impressive drivetrain and dynamics and competitive price. We’re very excited to get our hands on one and see how it drives.
