We just recently learned about the brand-new Audi RS5 Coupe today, as Audi finally revealed it as part of the Geneva Motor Show. While we don’t know when the RS5 will be making it to North American shores, with its European debut coming in June, we do get to see it live in Geneva.
While the Audi RS5 Coupe looks great in Audi’s photos, it looks even better in person. The small, subtle details, such as carbon fiber in hard-to-see places and the little air vents that you can’t typically see until you get a close look. It’s also very low and wide, making it the most aggressive looking variant of the Audi A5. It’s also very handsome and could rival the best looking cars in the class for top honors.
In the pictures, you get to see the new 2.9 liter biturbo V6 that develops 444 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque. When mated to its sport-tuned eight-speed automatic and Quattro all-wheel drive, the Audi RS5 Coupe has a claimed 0-60 mph time of 3.9 seconds. Though, we suspect it could be a bit quicker than that, as Audi is always pretty conservative with its performance figures, understating them a bit. Either way, these performance figures put the RS5 right in the mix with the BMW M4 Competition Package and Mercedes-AMG C63 S Coupe.
The Audi RS5 should also be a dynamic handler, as its Quattro all-wheel drive system is more rear-biased than before, with a torque split of 40/60, front/rear. That, combined with a revised suspension and chassis from the previous model and the RS5 should compete with the best cars in the class.
