The 2017 Audi RS4 Avant has been digitally imagined by X-Tomi Design based on the all-new A4 Avant. The fifth generation of the A4 compact premium model was unveiled just yesterday and already we have an early unofficial look at the range-topping RS4 which will likely take the shape of an Avant when it will come out in the second half of 2016 as a 2017MY.
Audi recently concluded production of the previous generation RS4 Avant which means that for a significant amount of time the model won’t be available. There’s always the possibility the VW-owned premium marque won’t wait that long for a successor and launch it as early as the beginning of next year although it seems unlikely.
It’s not hard to figure out how the 2017 Audi RS4 Avant will look like since the new A4 (B9) generation looks more like a facelift than an all-new model. However, underneath the familiar skin is an entirely different car that has lost up to 120 kg despite being slightly larger than the model it replaces.
The identity of the engine is not known at this point, but Audi has previously announced plans to drop the V8 4.2-liter normally aspirated engine. Details about what will replace it are scarce at the moment, but sources close to Ingolstadt are saying Audi will install a turbocharged V6 motor.
