2017 Audi A7 Sportback speculatively rendered

Independent artist RM Design has digitally imagined the 2017 Audi A7 Sportback. March Lichte is now in charge of Audi’s design so all models from now on will likely be influenced by the Prologue concept. He previously said design work on the second generation A7 has already been completed and that it will have the most radical design when compared to the A6 and A8.

Little else is known about the 2017 Audi A7 Sportback, but it’s safe to say it will ride on the MLB Evo platform which means we should expect a more extensive use of aluminum to shave off some serious weight. Chances are it will receive a semi-autonomous driving system that will be able to drive the car at speeds of up to 60 km/h.

Reports are suggesting the availability of a new air suspension using a camera to scan the road up ahead and detect all the imperfections to make the necessary suspension adjustments to ensure a smooth ride.

In terms of engines, the 2017 Audi A7 Sportback is likely getting upgraded versions of the four-cylinder 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline and diesel engines, as well as a beefy V8 4.0-liter TDI with more than 400 PS. There are also talks about a plug-in hybrid derivative mixing up a TFSI 2.0-liter with a 122 PS electric motor.
