The 2017 Audi A7 Sportback will feature a more radical exterior appearance. This is more than just a mere rumor as the announcement was actually made by the company’s newly appointed chief designer Marc Lichte who says he has already finished the car’s design. He added the car will borrow a few visual cues from the Prologue concept originally introduced in November during the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show where it most likely was the star of the event. He didn’t go into specifics so for the moment we don’t know which of the concept’s visual characteristics will influence the new A7.
The aforementioned Audi Prologue concept will also be used as foundation for the design of the next-gen A8 flagship model planned for a reveal sometime in 2016, followed a year later by the new A6 which will also have a design derived from the Prologue.
According to March Lichte, there will be greater visual differences between the next-gen A6, A7 and A8, with the 2017 A7 Sportback set to receive the most radical design of the three. The model in question is bound to ride on the second-gen MLB platform which will premiere a year earlier on the overhauled A8 where it should bring a considerable diet.
