Preliminary details have emerged concerning the all-new 2017 Audi A5 Coupe. It is believed the next generation will come with a more aggressive styling and will obviously take cues from the upcoming A4 (B9). Expect to see sweeping headlights and a beefier front fascia with a more masculine grille and bumper while the rear end should host an integrated spoiler.
It will reportedly receive a sportier suspension which will lower the ride height compared to the current model and there’s also going to be a dual exhaust setup for the A5 whereas the punchier S5 will adopt a quad exhaust arrangement.
The 2017 Audi A5 Coupe will ride on the latest version of the MLB platform which also formed the basis of the new A4 and Q7 so expect a considerable weight loss of up to 100 kg. Aside from going on a diet, the new coupe will come with a more spacious interior cabin even though the car’s proportions will remain just about the same.
The engine lineup will be carried over from the A4 and will include the recently introduced four-cylinder, 2.0 TFSI with 190 PS. Also expect to see the usual 1.6 and 2.0 TDI units and possible gasoline-electric and/or diesel/electric hybrids. The S5 should get an uprated version of the supercharged V6 3.0-liter engine while the next generation RS5 will lose the V8 naturally aspirated engine in favor of a smaller unit that will benefit from turbocharging.
