A near-production prototype of the 2016 Audi SQ7 was spotted testing in India. We are getting closer and closer to the model’s unveiling as the high-performance SUV will likely be shown in mid-September at the Frankfurt Motor Show looking like a wolf in sheep’s clothing as the exterior changes will be subtle. You will be able to tell this is a beefier version thanks to the quad exhaust system, bigger alloy wheels and enlarged brakes while the front and rear bumpers will also go through some revisions.
More important changes will occur under the hood where the 2016 Audi SQ7 will use a V8 turbodiesel engine and for the first time on a production model, it will likely benefit from e-turbo technology. The engine’s displacement is believed to stand at 4.0 or 4.2 liters and will send more than 400 bhp to a quattro permanent all-wheel drive system.
This hardware arrangement should grant a 0-100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds and a 300 km/h top speed, not too shabby for a car that will weigh more than 2,000 kg.
It will likely go on sale before the end of this year and will probably carry a starting price of more than €85,000 taking into account the 3.0 TDI quattro version is €60,900 in Germany.
