The recently introduced 2016 Audi S8 Plus has made a comeback in a fresh promotional video. Many people have been criticizing Volkswagen’s premium marque for not coming out with an RS8, but maybe there’s no real need for it now that Audi has launched the S8 Plus which packs a mighty 605 hp punch coming from an uprated version of the 4.0 TFSI 8-cylinder engine that generates a massive 700 Nm of torque. There’s also an overboost function increasing torque to a jaw-dropping 750 Nm.
The S8 Plus manages to provide some RS8-worthy performances as it runs the 0-100 km/h sprint in as little as 3.8 seconds and tops out at 305 km/h so it has all it takes to go head to head with the Mercedes-AMG S63 Sedan. Needless to say, it doesn’t come cheap as Audi is asking €145,200 in Germany for its high-performance full-size luxury sedan that gets standard matrix LED headlights and bespoke 21-inch alloys wrapped around in 275/35 tires.
The 2016 Audi S8 Plus probably serves as a last hurrah for the current generation as an all-new A8 is scheduled for a 2017 market launch and will probably be unveiled towards the end of next year.
