German media is reporting the 2016 Audi Q1 will have a starting price of approximately €25,000. The small crossover will be designed by March Lichte and it is believed it will be based on the A3 while the dimensions should pretty similar to those of the current Q3 which is bound to get bigger with the second generation due at the beginning of 2018.
Riding on the MQB platform, the 2016 Audi Q1 is going to be powered by a several gasoline and diesel turbocharged engines, with the base motor believed to be a 1.4 TFSI four-cylinder developing 140 HP and 250 Nm of torque. A more powerful 1.8 TFSI is set to offer 180 HP and 280 Nm while a beefier 2.0 TFSI is rumored to churn 230 HP and 370 Nm.
Also on offer are going to be two 2.0 TDI engine, one developing 150 HP and 320 Nm while the other should deliver 184 HP and 380 Nm. Interestingly, the same report mentions an SQ1 model motivated by an uprated 2.0 TDI with 231 HP and 500 Nm. Apperantly Audi hasn’t decided yet whether an RS Q1 will be offered but if green-lighted, expect the hot small crossover from Ingolstadt to offer as much as 310 HP and 380 Nm of torque but most likely it won’t be available right away.
