The 2015 Audi TT will receive sometime in the future a third body style, following the already available coupe and the forthcoming roadster. We saw the interesting TT offroad concept depicted here in April at the Beijing Motor Show in China and chances are a production version is being prepared to expand the TT lineup.
Audi’s development chief Ulrich Hackenberg declared a few days ago during the TT’s launch in Spain that the family will be expanded with a third member that is currently under development. He did not reveal the identity of the model but it will likely be an evolution of the TT offroad concept as he believes the vehicle “provides an insight into how we might envisage a new model in a future TT family.”
There are already lots of Q crossovers and more are on the way as the company has confirmed working on the Q1 and Q8 so it’s a bit strange that a new one is planned based on the 2015 Audi TT. However, the Ingolstadt-based automaker knows what the market wants and chances are this new variation of the TT will be a success, especially in China.
It will be interesting to see if Audi is also planning a production derivative of the allroad shooting brake concept which served as a sneak peak for the 2015 Audi TT but with a more appealing shooting brake body style.
