The 2015 Audi R8 V10 Plus is finally here and comes with a number of upgrades compared to the base R8 V10. The cars share the same V10 5.2-liter FSI naturally aspirated engine but in the Plus version it develops 610 PS (449 kW) and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque. This more hardcore version is also significantly lighter as it weighs 1,454 kg and comes with a large rear wing made from CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastic).
The additional power combined with the lower weight allows the 2015 Audi R8 V10 Plus to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) from a standstill in as little as 3.2 seconds en route to a top speed of 205 mph (330 km/h). Fuel consumption for a car of this type stands at a respectable 12.4 liters / 100 km with corresponding CO2 emissions 289 g/km.
All that output is sent to a quattro permanent all-wheel drive system with help from a seven-speed S tronic transmission delivering the power to standard 20-inch shod in 245/30 front and 305/30 rear tires. The 2015 Audi R8 V10 Plus stops efficiently in time thanks to carbon fiber ceramic discs while the aluminum body gets standard carbon fiber front splitter, rear diffuser and side blades.
As far as the interior is concerned, the cockpit has been oriented towards the driver and you will notice there aren’t that many physical controls as these have been replaced by the TT-sourced 12.3-inch configurable digital display. Carbon fiber accents spice up the cabin and for more money there’s a 500-watt Bang & Olufsen sound system as well as an optional Audi phone box.
Audi will start selling the R8 V10 Plus this summer to anyone willing to pay at least the starting price of €187,400.
