The 2015 Audi R8 V10 has officially been revealed and it was definitely worth the wait. Just like we suspected, the V8 engine has been dropped as the second generation of the R8 supercar will be offered exclusively with an uprated variant of the V10 FSI 5.2-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine. In the base R8 V10 pictured here it will develop 540 PS (397 kW) and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) of torque. It’s enough muscle to grant a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 200 mph (320 km/h). If fuel consumption is your concern, then you should know the car will need 11.8 liters / 100 km and it will emit 275 g/km of CO2.
Tipping the scales at 1,555 kg (3,482 lbs), the 2015 Audi R8 V10 gets standard 19-inch alloy wheels shod in 245/35 front and 295/35 rear tires while at an additional cost it can be equipped with larger 20-inch alloys wrapped in 245/30 front and 305/30 rear rubbers. As you would image, the car gets a quattro all-wheel drive system which receives the engine’s power through a 7-speed S tronic transmission that has been thoroughly updated.
At an additional cost, customers will be able to configure the car with clear-coated carbon fiber side blades, diffuser and front splitter. The interior cabin gets a standard 12.3-inch TFT customizable digital instrument cluster, bucket seats and optional goodies like the Audi phone box or a Bang & Olufsen sound system with a 500-watt power.
In terms of styling, the 2015 Audi R8 V10 adopts an evolutionary design with an aluminum body which is now has a 40% increased torsional rigidity. The car gets steel brake discs which have a wave design and can get optional red-painted calipers.
Audi has announced the model is scheduled to go on sale this summer at a starting price of €165,000.
