A brand new 2014 Audi A3 Sedan equipped with the 4-cylinder 1.4-liter TFSI turbocharged gasoline engine was put through a couple of acceleration tests. The vehicle rides on the same MQB platform as the Volkswagen Golf VII and Skoda Octavia III but since this is an Audi it’s considered as being a more upscale version of the two, suitable for a premium brand and a considerably increased price tag.
The engine puts out a rather decent 140 bhp and helps the vehicle reach 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds according to the speedometer or in 8.5 seconds if we were to believe the more reliable data provided by the GPS. As far as the 0-160 km/h sprint is concerned, the A3 Sedan 1.4 TFSI proves to be quite competent as it does it in 21.1s (speedo) or 21.4s (GPS).
As most of you know, the A3 Sedan came out last year and is currently the most affordable Audi sedan money can buy. The car featured in this video was equipped with the standard six-speed manual gearbox and had 17-inch alloy wheels. The 1.4 TFSI featured cylinder on demand technology so aside from providing more decent performances it should prove to be thrifty as well, making it ideal for a corporate car on the budget.
