This 2008 Audi S8 Will Give You Test Reasons Why You Should Buy It

Buying old luxury cars is honestly never idea. Unless you’re a YouTuber with family-money and no life outside of repairing old cars, the cost of repairing old premium luxury cars is simply not worth the hassle. Typically. Sometimes, some cars are so special that they’re worth risking it all for and this 2008 Audi S8 on Bring-A-Trailer could be one of those cars.

The D3-generation Audi S8 is a fascinating car. On one hand, it just looks like your average luxury car; it’s simple, sophisticated and calm. It barely looks different than a standard Audi A8. On the other hand, however, it’s a road-going missile thanks to the monster under the hood.

Powering the D3 Audi S8 is a 5.2 liter naturally-aspirated V10 with 450 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque. Those numbers aren’t stellar compared to modern specs but they’re still plenty and enough to make the S8 very, very fast.

Sending all of that power to the wheels is a six-speed automatic gearbox and Quattro all-wheel drive. So the S8 packs a wallop, especially off the line, thanks to its all-wheel grip. More importantly, it makes an incredible sound. That 5.2 liter screaming V10 is not the sort of engine you’d expect to see in in a luxury sedan. A mid-engine supercar with spaceship looks? Absolutely. But not in a two-ton, four-door luxury sedan with more leather than a cattle farm.

This specific Audi S8 has just 57,000 miles on it and seems minty fresh. Sure, it’s a bit odd of a color combo — silver over grey interior — but it still looks great and will be a wonderful car to drive everyday. Which is also what makes it so special.

Typically, when you buy a car with a monster V10 engine that makes incredible noises, it’s powering some slinky sports car that you’re only going to drive on the weekends. This Audi S8 is the car you’re going to drive to and from work everyday, drop off and pick up your kids from school and take your significant other out to dinner (when quarantines are over, of course). It’s a car you’re constantly going to use, which means you’ll always get to feel just how special it is.

At the time of writing this, there are six days left on the bid and it’s up to $5,000. This isn’t going to be a super cheap car but, considering what it is, it’s not going to be an expensive one, either. If you’re in the market for a fun sedan, you owe it to yourself to check this out.
