From all of the reviews of the new Audi TT RS, the one constant high-mark for the car was its power. The 2.5 liter turbocharged I5 engine comes with 400 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque and no one has ever complained about how it puts those ponies to the ground. The standard Audi TT RS can accelerate from 0-60 mph in under four seconds, making it the fastest car in its class. However, the folks at MTM have decided that it needs some more power. Not sure why, but they added some more power.
Now, the Audi TT RS, for MTM-duty, makes 465 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. That makes it more powerful than an Audi RS5 and a BMW M4 Competition Package, both cars packing bigger engines and higher price tags. That’s impressive. But just how quick does it make it?
Well, the standard car does 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds, while the newly modified car can do the same sprint in 3.5 seconds. That might not sound like a big deal but two tenths is actually quite good for just 65 extra ponies. It’s the extra torque that does it, as that helps it fire off the line. What’s also impressive is just how brutally it continues to accelerate. The standard car has an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph but this car gets to 160 mph (264 mph).
Typically, we don’t like when aftermarket tuners change the exhaust on the Audi TT RS, as it already sounds so fantastic. However, this car still sounds pretty good. It’s throaty and aggressive while also a bit raspy at the top end. Also, does anyone else also love the way the car’s Virtual Cockpit look as the TT RS bangs through the gears? It’s just so damn slick and cool looking.
Anyway, if you own an Audi TT RS and want some extra oomph (not that it really needs it), the folks at MTM have you covered.
